WHAT'S THE TOUGHEST ANIMAL IN THE WORLD?

This is a good question. But answer is simple. Water bears. Water bears are the toughest animal is the world. When I say water bears, the thing which might come into your mind must be the big brown bears licking honey or a polar bear swimming in the cold waters of artic. But this creature is different. It's actual name is Tardigrade. They are weird, microsopic animals that looks like a fat woodlice. They look like insects, but they are not. In fact, they are so different and unique that they have their own group 'Tardigrada'. Presently, there are 900 known-species of this interesting creature. They grow just over 1 mm and eat plants, mosses and bacteria and live almost everywhere. They are called water bears because they waddle and usually live where water is present. But they also live happily where not a single drop of water is found. Now, you might find this creature pretty amusing and weak but I can asure you that it is toughest animal till date. As usual, we will compare my mate with few strong animal we know.

1. Grizzy bears v/s Tardigrades

This is a good start. Grizzy bears are big and strong and have pretty sharp claws. They can also stay in hibernation for more than 6 months. But compared to my super-tough mate? Wimps. Water bears can live 10 years without water and food and can go into a hibernation in which they are barely alive.

2. Cockroaches v/s Tardigrades

Cockroaches might seems ugly and weak but they are known to survive nuclear explosion. While 2000 rads of radiation is enough to kill humans, cockroaches can survive upto 6400 rads and more. This is super impressive to hear till you hear from my dude. Tardigrades can survive over 570000 rads and more which actually makes them radiation-proof

3. Armadillos v/s Tardigrades

Armadillos are some serious-tough guys. Their hard, leathery armour can protect it from hyenas, wolves and even from bears. They can survive upto 300 kg of pressure which is super-cool. But if they are dragged into the bottom of the ocean, they would be squashed into a armadillos pancake. Water bears can survive pressures of more than 6000 kg per centimeter square or, in other words, 6 times more pressure than the deepest ocean trench.

What's more, they can survive in temperatures lower than -200 degree celcius and are even know to survive in the space. Well, this was the toughest creature in the world. I hope that the toughest animal in the universe is as friendly as water bears...
